We visited Sun Valley a few days before Christmas. It might be our new pre-Christmas tradition since Sun Valley is so beautiful this time of year with all the lights and snow. We practiced sitting on the lift chair in the Sun Valley square, skate skied, sledded, and took Lindsey on her first on-snow ski adventure at Galena Lodge. Who ever thought a parking lot could be this much fun?

Beautiful friends, sunny weekend
Tree Decorating
Its taken me a while to catch up on posting pictures of various holiday activities. The week after Thanksgiving, Lindsey and I spent an afternoon decorating the Christmas tree. Initially, I didn't think she was super excited about the tree. But as the days went by, she become more and more excited about the lights and tree. Every morning she came down the stairs and stood in front of the tree, point, and say "tree" and "lights". When we turned on the tree, she would clap in delight and say "ooh". It is so fun to observe a child seeing new things for the first time and remember to notice the simple pleasures of day-to-day life.

Skiing - Take 1
Surprise visit to Nana's house
I had some extra vacation to burn before the end of the year. My mom hadn't seen Lindsey since October so I thought no better Christmas present for Grandma (AKA Nana) than for Lindsey and I to fly to Eugene and show up in her sewing room while she's wrapping some Christmas presents. We stayed for 4 days and had a lovely time. Mom, Gammy, Aunt Vicki and I went to see Fiddler on the Roof while Imants babysat. We made popcorn balls, played in the "sain" which is our term for Oregon mix of rain and snow. Lindsey took her first sled ride on an old from my Mother's childhood. It was a great way to kick off the Christmas holiday!

What sound does a zebra make?
Lindsey was a zebra for Halloween. We went to HP to trick-or-treat, and then up to the Parker's for a slumber party with Elsinore, Ab, Steve, and Kelli. I don't think Lindsey understood the trick-or-treat concept but she did understand quite quickly that when you are 16 months old, it perfectly acceptable to pull fist-fulls of candy out of the bowl at once.
